Maruti India’s true MPV and Toyota Innova rival Maruti Ertiga seems to have gone a day far from car buyers. As per a recent report Maruti Ertiga launch will be on April 12. However, car pundits have predicted that since April 11 is a Wednesday, it will be launched on this day only. Whatever the date be April 11 or 12th this is sure that the MPV industry is awaiting a reformation. Expected to be priced around Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, the MPV Ertiga is sure to enter the segment with a bang creating much sensation. Since joint families still exist in India and average Indian family size is bigger, people prefer an MPV than any other car. And if there is an offering from Maruti and at an attractive price, there is nothing that can stop Ertiga from putting up enthusiastic numbers on the sales chart during its debut.

With the new Ertiga launch date coming in, there is confusion in the auto industry and with this speculations have started creeping in. The scenario will be clear once there is an official word from Maruti India. As per the information available, the upcoming Maruti car will be launched in six variants – three in petrol and three in diesel. Now that the government has dropped a tax on diesel cars, expect the Maruti Ertiga diesel to be priced attractively. However, the current excise hike will affect the expected price of the petrol and diesel variants.

Unveiled first at the January Auto Expo 2012 held in New Delhi, the Maruti Ertiga MPV fascinated car lovers across the country specially the new 1.4 L K series petrol engine that has a power output of 93 bhp and is expected to return a mileage of 16.02 kmpl. The diesel engine will obviously be Fiat sourced and it will be 1.3 L multijet one that has a power output of 88 bhp and a mileage of 20.77 kmpl.
