Maruti Swift Dzire Tour launched, sales from April

Maruti Swift Dzire Tour launched, sales from April

Maruti Swift Dzire 2011, the older version of this popular sedan which was replaced by the new shorter Dzire last month, is now all set to mark its debut in the Indian taxi segment. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is to launch a no frills taxi variant of this car in the Indian market next month. The car will be launched in only base petrol and diesel variants, named as Swift Dzire LXI and Swift Dzire LDI.

Named as Maruti Swift Dzire Tour, the new variant will be offered in both petrol and diesel versions in the Indian market. The petrol version will continue to come powered by the 1.2 Liter petrol engine, which will be delivering a peak power of 80 bhp. On the diesel version of the car will be carrying a 1.3 Liter Fiat Multijet turbodiesel engine, which will be delivering a peak power of 75 Bhp.

However, in a bid to differentiate the Dzire Tour from existing Dzire 2012, the looks of the new Maruti Swift Dzire Tour will be toned-down significantly as compared to the Swift Dzire 2011, including, black wing mirrors, black bumpers and black door handles (replacing the body colored counterparts in Dzire 2011) and steel wheels replacing the alloy wheels. Moreover, the company is believed to be interested in selling this toned down Dzire to only taxi and corporate segments, so that its cannibalization with new Dzire 2012 can be prevented. However, the features like AC and power steering will be offered as standard in the new Maruti Swift Dzire Tour.

It is to be mentioned here that the Maruti Swift Dzire has been a very successful entry level sedan in the Indian market since its introduction in the Indian market in year 2006. The car has been enjoying a waiting period of over 3 to 5 months since last few years. Moreover, the newly launched Compact Dzire is further carrying forward the supremacy of this sedan with receiving even greater response from the Indian buyers. The car is currently competing with the likes of Toyota Etios, Mahindra Verito and Tata Indigo CS.
