Here is a model existing since ages and yet not depreciated in the popularity, Mahindra has explored a new horizon in its 4x4 off-roader christened as Mahindra Thar. The stunning jeep wears the traditional look and offers better performance on roads. The Indian auto maker with its all new Mahindra Thar has bought a big share of pie for jeep lovers, off roaders and youngsters hunting for adventurous experience. Mahindra Thar not though wears a real strong traditional look of a jeep but also bears some real advanced technology for improving the driving experience in this off-roader. Mahindra in its all new and stunning jeep has employed the CRDe technology instead of the mHawk engine which helps the jeep get a flatter torque curve which is most effective in case of driving out of deep mud. In order to make the drive more techi, Mahindra Thar sports Scorpio’s ladder chassis and power steering. 

 

If the exterior of Mahindra Thar is seen closely, one can find great hints of Mahindra Bolero at the rear with panels taken from MM540. but the traditional look of a gypsy is maintained well in it. The engine is simply outstanding when is comes to torque as it offers 247 Nm @ 1800-2000 rpm. The engine is mated with 5 Speed - Manual transmission and Independent Front Suspension with Torsion & Stabiliser Bar. The other engine offerd under the car model is MDI 3200TC L, 2523 CC engine. The engine delivers a peak power of 47 kW / 63 BHP and a beating torque of 182.5 Nm at 1500 - 1800 rpm. Making it a true offroader, Mahindra Thar sports a ground clearance of 187 mm.

Mahindra Thar gives a decent mileage on any kind of road surface. Mahindra Thar CRDe gives a fair mileage of about 11.5 Kmlp on city roads and goes freely up to the mileage of 15.5 Kmpl on highways, whereas Mahindra Thar Di with no less mileage of about 10 Kmpl on city roads and 12 Kmpl on highways is equal to it. Mahindra Thar’s both models are diesel variants and thus don’t have much money expenditure for its fuel as compared to those automobiles that run on petrol and is not a gas guzzling machine. The CRDe engine is NEF turbocharged, intercooled, BS IV which supplies a good efficiency, torque and power to it with a cubic capacity of 2498cc. On the contrary Di has MDI 3200TC L with the cubic capacity of 2523cc.
