2012 Premier Rio launch very soon: officials
Long back at the annual general report, the auto-unit, Premier talked of powering its Rio with the 1.3 liter Multi-jet diesel engine report and the company also affirmed that it would soon change the currently used direct injection Peugeot TUD5 diesel in-line, which is a BS III complaint. There is a buzz again in the entire automobile industry that compact SUV Rio might come powered by a 1.3 liter Fiat Multi-jet diesel engine with variable geometry turbo-charger. It is expected that this engine will have caliber to produce maximum power of 87 bhp with its peak torque 200 Nm.

You can surely expect that Rio compact crossover will have phenomenal power and torque from the 1.3 Fiat Multi-jet diesel in-line as it weight measures lesser than the crossover standards, i.e. less than 1200 kgs. With Rio getting the new diesel in-line, speculations have raised that its price would get increased. Well, the time of new Rio launch is not yet disclosed by the company, but yes we can expect it to smash on roads within 2012. The compact SUV, Rio is the revamped & rebadged version of the popular Chinese small crossover, Zotye Nomad II.

The Rio compact crossover, has not being much successful on the Indian sub-continent, but with the new Rio getting a BS IV Multi-jet inline, the company might be hoping to improve its sales mainly in the metropolitan cities. Survival of 2012 Rio in India would not be that easy as Mahindra & Mahindra too is planning to launch a compact MUV, but this festive season. Furthermore, auto-giants like Renault and Ford too have slated the launch of their compact crossovers for 2012, but yes the price of their upcoming crossovers, Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport is expected to be higher than 2012 Rio.
