2015 Mercedes Benz A Class Launched in India; priced Rs. 24.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai)
Last year German luxurious car maker Mercedes Benz had announced that to strengthen its position in Indian car market it will launch 15 cars in India including new and upgraded version of its existing portfolio. Finally today making its words true the car maker launched its 15th car of 2015 addressing it as “15 in 15”. The 15th vehicle of this series is refreshed version of A-Class hatchback which undergoes various cosmetic changes. The petrol variant of generation next A Class has been priced Rs. 24.95 lakh (ex-showroom price, Mumbai) followed by diesel variant offered with price tag of Rs. 25.95 lakh (ex-showroom price, Mumbai). The version of A Class launched today in India was earlier showcased during Frankfurt Motor Show 2015.
As referred above the upgraded A Class receives bunch of cosmetic changes and therefore continues with same 1.6 litre petrol engine churning the power of 122 bhp and torque of 200 Nm, while diesel variant empowered with 2.2 litre boosting power of 136 bhp (6 bhp more than earlier) and torque of 300 Nm. Both the engine configurations are mated with seven speed dual clutch transmission system. Integration of “Eco Mode” facilitates the driver to drive his vehicle according to atmospheric conditions, thus offering enhanced fuel efficiency and minimum CO2 emissions.
On the exterior front A class receives newly developed air dam along with set of new head lamps with option of LED DRLs. The side profile has been decorated with new body lines which gives it sleeker look. There is no change on the rear portion except the integration of new LED tail lights. Inside the cabin it carries most of its looks as offered in existing trim of A Class, followed by introduction of some new features like new color treatment offered on dashboard and panoramic sunroof. The centre console has been developed with new 8 inch touchscreen. Apart from these features other attractions offered include use of Sahara Beige or black leather color combination, integration of smartphone comprising of Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.
