Audi India has takes the veils off the top of the line Audi A8 4.2L TDI diesel car in Mumbai. This is the latest addition to the range of A8 cars and has been priced over Rs 1 crore and has been put above the Audi A8L 3 L TDi Quattro. It not only makes the lineup complete but it also turns the Audi A8L more response with higher engine and it will now be economical to run. The Audi A8 4.2 L Diesel TDi launch was devoid of much fanfare and it was a soft launch. The introduction of more powerful diesel avatar will make the Audi A8 stand at a better pedestal than Mercedes Benz CLS Class and Volkswagen Phaeton. Though priced higher than these, the A8 4.2 L TDi will be a favorite pick.

In India, the A8 is available in petrol and diesel engine options. The range of the Audi A8 price starts at Rs 78 lakh and now it goes over Rs 1.26 crore. The Audi 4.2 L FSI Quattro is the entry level petrol car and is priced at Rs 82.33 lakh while the top of the line petrol car A8L 6.3 W12 Quattro is priced at Rs 1.26 crore. The entry level diesel car Audi A8L 3.0 TDI Quattro is the cheapest offering which is priced at Rs 72.45 lakh. Now the A8L 4.2L TDi will be the second highest priced car in the line up.

Apart from being powerful, the A8 has a lot many additions to the interiors and has been made more cozy and comfortable than the other models. The V8 turbo engine gives 350 PS power to the car and it sprints to 100 kmph mark in just 5.5 seconds that matches close to any Ferrari car. As per sources the engine has been derived from the Audi Q7 crossover and has been tuned to perfect performance in the A8L.
