Audi to spend 17 billion dollars by 2016 to fetch top slot
The tussle in the luxury car segment n India and the world is all set to intensify. Reason: Audi is all set to spend 17 billion dollars in order to secure the top slot in the next eight years. The amount will be spent on brand awareness, new Audi car launches and expansion of its network. With the launch of highly anticipated Audi A1, Audi Q1 and Audi A5 in 2013 besides other cars, the car maker is all set to dethrone BMW from the number one position and limit Mercedes Benz to the third pedestal. Thus Audi will be supposedly doing two things at a time. First, it will be increasing its presence by new car launches and will be seeking new markets.

The said amount will be spent in the next four years till 2016 and by this time Audi will be able to ensure a decent presence in markets dominated by BMW. The amount will be spent on capacity expansion in its home town as well in China and Mexico. Another significant thing that has come to light is that Audi will be investing a lot in coming up with highly frugal engines that will be in demand in future as petrol and diesel prices will shoot up due to scanty supply. In addition to this the car maker will also be investing in electric mobility and making its cars more fuel efficient and light weight.

Audi’s effort in doing so is part of its parent company Volkswagen’s aim to be world leader in car sales. Audi on the other hand is all set to make these things possible with its sedans, SUV getting popular and in demand across nations. In India, the Audi Q3, Audi Q5 are quite popular and in demand besides the Audi A4 and Audi A6 sedans.
