India has been vying for a small car, perhaps a Tata Nano rival and that also could fill in the void that Maruti 800 has created after its production was reportedly stopped in April. India had too much expectation from the Bajaj-Nissan-Renault joint venture but there was no output. Now as per the latest buzz, Bajaj RE60 that is misunderstood to be a small car will be launched by March next year. Interestingly, Bajaj just stole the show to the despair of the paparazzi and the general public by launching the four wheel Bajaj RE60 just ahead of the Auto Expo held in New Delhi this year. 
 
 
 
With the unveil of the four wheeler commercial auto rickshaw Bajaj RE60, everybody hoped that India has got its much awaited cheapest small car that will be a rival of Nano. However, the specification of the RE60 stunned everybody and the so called small car did not qualify to be called as a proper car. Bajaj also did not create hoopla that it is a car and had always termed it as a four wheel commercial vehicle and rather had wished it as a weather proof replacement of the Bajaj RE three wheeler. 
 
Given a final shape after relentless efforts of four years, the RE60 will have a mileage of 35 kmpl. As per sources, Bajaj will be commencing the production of the small commercial vehicle by the year end and it is quite possible that the launch will also be there at that time. Reports are already in that Nissan will be reviving the low cost car brand Datsun in India and now all eyes are there on it for a real low priced small car. Meanwhile, Maruti is also reportedly making Maruti 800 replacement in the form of Maruti Cervo or other car.
