Beijing Motor Show 2014: Ford unveils Escort concept, soon to arrive in India too
Ford Motors the American multinational car maker has showcased the India bound Escort sedan during the ongoing Beijing Motor Show 2014. The sedan has been specifically designed for Indian and Chinese car market. The unveiled sedan will not be new for Indian car market as prior to this company had made its debut in Indian car market with Escort in 1996 but phased it out in 2001 and finally from the global market in 2002. After launch in Indian car market it will be placed above its sibling Fiesta.
The sedan will be empowered with 1.5 litre Ti-VCT petrol engine which is same as offered in its existing siblings Fiesta and EcoSport. The engine churns the power of 112 bhp and torque of 140Nm. It is anticipated that company will also offer diesel variant of Escort in Indian car market and embellish it with either 1.5 TDCI or 1.6 TDCI engine.
As far as architecture of Escort is concerned it resembles to company’s Escort concept which was showcased last year during Shanghai Motor Show. The front fascia impinges trapezoidal Aston Martin alter ego grille which is same as offered in Figo concept showcased during Indian Auto Expo 2014 and forthcoming Fiesta. The rear portion receives wrap around tail lamps. Apart from these disclosed features at present it is also equipped with safety features like six airbags, docking station facilitating the buyers to connect their smartphones with MP3 player or for charging battery of their handsets.
