BMW to launch BMW 3 Series GT by 2014
The German luxurious car manufacturer BMW is all set to put tough competition among its strong contenders Audi and Mercedes Benz by launching huge fleet of BMW products in Indian market by making an investment of Rs.210 crore in Indian auto market to explore its production volume to 14,000 units annually.
The beginning of this strategy will take place with launch of BMW3 Series GT in Indian auto market during 2014 which will be produced at its Chennai manufacturing plant. According to industry experts BMW 3 Series GT will be launched in both petrol and diesel variant, the petrol variant will be available with two engine options one will beenergized with 2.0 litre engine which will develop the power of 245 bhp, the second petrol engine variant will be empowered with 3 litre engine developing the power of 306 bhp. On the other side diesel variant will be enriched with 2 litre diesel engine which will churn the power of 184 bhp.
According to Mr. Phillip von Sahr, President BMW, India, company is developing a new platform at its Chennai plant which will specifically used for production of BMW sedan cars and the first initiative of this plant will be launched in form of BMW 3 Series GT and for this company will extend its production area by end of this year. With this company also is also planning to explore its dealership network by opening new dealers in small cities of India and take number of its existing dealership network from 35 to 50. At present BMW is selling 14 models in Indian market and dominated by market of luxurious cars in India, but unfortunately due to decline in demand of luxury cars its crown started receiving tough competition from its contenders, especially from Audi, which is expanding its roots in India at jet dynamic speed.
