Cars that return 65 kmpl mileage, float on water, impossibly true
Cars have a future in alternate fuel technology and the new generation in India is seriously in an effort to develop a viable solution to the ever decreasing natural fuel resources. A couple of groups of the Thanjavur based university have developed two cars. The cars are not only eco-friendly and costs less; one of them can travel on land as well as float water. Both the cars have been developed using only Rs 35,000 and are as sturdy as any other car.
The one car developed is a duo fuel powered car and runs on petrol as well as LPG. The other car so developed is an electric car that draws its power from solar panels fitted on it. This solar powered car can run on road as well as water.

The students of the PRIST University have developed the cars with the technical assistance from a regional engineering firm Hi-Tech Project Industries. The cars thus made have used steel, plastics and other materials which are available locally besides aluminum that is used to keep the overall weight of the cars low.
The two-seater amphibian car is highly performing and can travel on road and one of them has been so designed that it can also float on water just like a motor boat. The maximum speed of the car is 30 kmph on road and it can take a maximum speed of 15 kmph on water. Besides this, the car is totally eco-friendly and unlike the petrol and diesel cars which emit harmful carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide gases can do no harm to the environment and the surrounding.
The petrol/LPG based car is light in weight and weighs only 135 kg. It has a top speed of 50 kmph and returns 65 kms per litre mileage on petrol and 110 km per kg mileage on LPG.
