Chevrolet Sail and rivals – interesting duels in the offing
The new Chevrolet Sail sedan is in and the big wigs in the segment are sensing it as a worrywart. Reason: low cost, high performance and segment first features in the Sail sedan. Starting at Rs 4.99 lakh, it is the second most affordably priced car in the segment. With rivals such as Maruti Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Tata Manza, Mahindra Verito and Ford Classic, the Sail sedan is all set on a journey in India. Expert analysts believe that if all happens well and the market response remains as is, the car maker will be able sell the Sail sedan in never before numbers. Already the car has crossed over 1500 mark and very soon it will be able to dethrone big bullies from the top positions, it seems.
In comparison to Swift Dzire, the Sail sedan fails to start a little bit costly. Only around Rs 7000 (that is immaterial). Regarding brand value and value for money, it should not be underestimated that it is competing with a Maruti car on which people have blind faith. So as far as brand value is concerned, Sail might have to face some resistance at this front. Features wise and space wise the Sail has an upper hand.
Tata cars and that too Tata Manza is an easy enemy for Sail sedan. Price wise, look wise and feature wise the Sail sedan prevails while the Tata car falls short due to not so charismatic design. As compared to Toyota Etios, the Sail sedan will have good resistance. Despite of the fact that Etios has a start price of Rs 5.46 lakh people will go for it as Toyota’s trust and quality consciousness prevails all through. On the other hand, Sail sedan can easily win over the clientele of Mahindra Verito as the sedan is already undergoing censure due to its boxy design. In comparison to Ford Classic, there will be a resistance as Ford cars have over the years proven their trustworthiness while Sail sedan is comparatively new brand car in India.
