Chevrolet Trax to be launched as Chevrolet Tracker, new Cruze by 2015

The Chevrolet Trax has its passport ready and soon it will also be a permanent resident of Russia and its states. However, there it will be known as the Chevrolet Tracker. Also this new Chevrolet SUV will also be entering India and its nomenclature is yet to be finalized for India. Another update coming from Chevrolet fleet is that the Chevrolet Cruze is all set to get a completely new avatar in 2015. The car that has recently got a facelift in Europe and Asia will have the most comprehensive makeover in its career as this time it will be a different platform on which it will be built.

The new platform is the one on which Chevrolet expects to base a lot of sedans and SUVs. The Trax or the Tracker in Russia will be the one and the Cruze will be another baby out of the new global platform. The Trax or the Tracker will be a 4.2 m SUV for Russia and it will have bigger than Captiva appearance. However, in styling it will look compact. Three engine options will be there on the new Trax and these will be – two petrol engine options – 1.4 L and 1.6 L and a diesel engine options – 1.7 L diesel engine. It will be an all time four wheel drive car and will be equipped with engine start stop technology to make it more fuel efficient.

The new Cruze on the other hand will have entirely revamped exteriors and interiors as it will have a new platform underneath. As per the initial information, the new Cruze is scheduled to be produced at the Lordstown, Ohio plant and will be available in a small car, wagon and coupe variants as well. In 2015, the new Cruze will be heading straight to Asian and Indian market in particular as the present generation Cruze has worked well for the car maker.

General Motors India has its own reputation in the country and that was reason I decided to buy Chevrolet Cruze for myself.
