Datsun globally unveils Redi-Go, India launch in June
Finally after the silence of almost one and half year Datsun the subsidiary of Japanese car maker unveiled its third product in form of small car Redi-Go, and will launch the same in Indian car market sometimes during first week of June this year. Developed on CMF-A platform from Renault-Nissan collaboration after launch Redi-Go will compete against Hyundai Eon, Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and is expected to be offered with starting price of Rs. 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Japanese car maker will commence its booking from May 1, 2016. The Redi-Go unveiled today carries the same look revealed in pictures disclosed few days back by Datsun through its Facebook page.
Its power train will include 800 cc, three cylinder petrol engine which is similar to offered in Kwid from Renault which is also developed on CMF-A platform. The engine will be mated with five speed manual gear transmission system and will generate the maximum power of 50 bhp and torque of 100 Nm. It would be interested to know that with an objective to overcome drawbacks of Go hatchback and Go+ MPV, this time Datsun has not left any option to make Redi-Go a failure. The front fascia sports beautifully developed front bonnet comprising of horizontal headlamps, signature hexagonal grille surrounded by chrome, and designer sweptback. The muscular lines engraved on front bumper and going back to side profile succeed in giving bumper more dynamic look.
The side profile receives newly developed sporty alloy wheels, whereas rear end is decorated with vertical tail lamps, stylist bootlid opener and top mounted rear windscreen. The car will be developed at company’s Oragadam production unit, Tamil Nadu is expected to play the role of game changer for Datsun in Indian car market.
