Fiat Punto Abarth hatchback priced at Rs 9 lakh could come to India
Fiat is contemplating to bring Punto Abarth hatchback to the Indian car market by the year 2013. The Italian car maker is planning to assemble the hatchback locally in India. Localisation will help the auto maker to place the price competitively. The new Fiat Punto Abarth will come housed with a 1.4 T-Jet-165 Bhp turbo petrol mill which is currently performing duty in Fiat Linea.
Price of this new Punto Abarth hatchback could be placed at Rs 9 lakhs. Punto Abarth is expected to be the country’s first performance car available at such affordable price. A reworked suspension and a tougher chassis will enable a better handling. On the other hand a thicker anti roll bars and larger brakes with all round disc will improve the driving dynamics.
India will get the four door variant of Fiat Punto Abarth, the hatchback will be put on display at segregate Abarth Studios which will be a part of the Fiat showroom. With the launch of this luxury hatchback one thing is clear that India is soon going to witness an influx of affordable luxury cars, with Abarth being a pioneer. A diesel version of the hatchback will also be offered for the Indian customers as diesel variants are more popular in India than the petrol version. There is a lot more coming on Abarth in coming days, so stay tuned to Carkhabri for more information on this luxury wagon.
