Three cars - Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo (sedan) and Toyota Etios which are instant hits in India are repeating a similar history in South African markets as well. Notably, these three India made cars exported to SA are doing good and have secured the best selling cars in SA title recently. Besides, this has eased the pressure on local manufacturer who were reeling due to the economic crisis in Europe. Now that India made cars are being sold there and are accepted well, it is believed that these three car makers will be stepping up the exports to SA soon.

These cars that have made a day for their respective car makers in SA were also quite famous in house as well. Where Ford Figo takes on Maruti Swift and Tata Indica, the Volkswagen Vento (sold as VW Polo in SA) has been at once the best selling cars surpassing Honda City car sales. Whereas the Toyota Etios sedan has become a hot favorite entry level sedan in the country and the taxi and fleet operators are reportedly going for it in huge numbers following its dependency and low price. All these cars are produced in India and exported to SA from here. The export of Etios, Polo has begun recently and in such a short span it is not less than a wonder how these cars have made their space in the South African market.

Where Etios has been selling well since exports began in April this year mainly because of the lowest price, other cars such as Figo and Polo are selling in large numbers following their features and again primarily following the affordable price. It is believed that Etios, Figo and Polo exports to SA will increase soon as these have been accepted well in the new market.
