Ford plans aggressive export strategy for SUV EcoSport
Ford India revealed that it is all set to export Ford Ecosport (a forthcoming compact sports utility vehicle) to approximately 40 countries, after the official launch of the vehicle takes place within coming months. Mr. Joginder Singh (President and MD of Ford India) had reportedly stated that the company has grand plans, in order to export EcoSport in the international terrain. While mentioning about the small car Ford Figo, he revealed that Figo is currently being exported to 38 markets from India and the company is striving to formulate better strategies related to the export of the EcoSport. This new Ford SUV is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 8 lakh and is already showcased in India and it will be finally launched in June this year.
Ford India may introduce the EcoSport anytime from now this year and this is one of the most anticipated launches of the year. It will be launched in two different engine options and will also be available in automatic and manual transmissions options. As per the information, the company will be able to boost exports due to achieving few constructive factors like cost efficiency in the process of manufacturing at Chennai based plant.
Already in Brazil, China and some other countries, the Ecosport has impressed the car buyers wherever it is launched. In India, it is specially anticipated as a prime option to Renault Duster which is currently doing more than well in the segment. Almost as a ruler of the compact SUV segment, it is on behalf of Duster that Renault is able to four fold its sales. In export markets as well, the two will be rivals as they already are in some of the markets and probably Renault will also be targeting those markets, may be before or after the launch of Ecosport.
