Hatchbacks that dominated Indian car market in 2014 offered with price tag below 5 lakh

ndian car market is mainly dominated by small family cars because of their affordable price range. According to recent study hatchbacks contributes 56% of sales in Indian car market. This year also witnessed huge demand of hatchbacks by almost all segments of buyers. According to recent study hatchbacks contribute 56% of total sales in Indian car market. With year ending it would be interesting to know that which were the major hatchbacks that succeeded in fascinating attention of buyers towards them.
Hyundai Elite i20 : While discussing the major hatchbacks of 2014, the first name that pinches the mind of every Indian car enthusiast is Elite i20 by Korean car maker Hyundai. Surprisingly launched in August this year, within the short span of its launch the hatchback succeed in making its intense impression among the hatchback aspirants and recorded bookings of about 56000 units since its launch.  Launched in both petrol and diesel variants the hatchback delivers an impressive average of 18.1 kmpl in highway. With this impressive average and presence of luxurious features with price tag of Rs. 4.90 lakh (ex-showroom price for base variant) has everything to offer which a layman dreams to enjoy in his car. It would not be wrong to say that this hatchback deliver the true value of money to its buyers.

Hyundai Grand i10: Interestingly the second hatchback which grabbed attention of buyers is also from Korean car maker Hyundai and which made its debut in Indian car market last year. Hyundai Grand i10 launched last year with price tag of Rs. 4.29 lakh (ex-showroom price), the fluidic design philosophy adopted by car maker succeed in making hatchback as one of the liked hatchbacks of Indian car market. The hatchback was launched in both petrol and diesel variants the hatchback adorns all luxurious features including power steering, power windows, electric ORVMs, rear AC vents, front intermittent washer/wiper, 2-DIN Integrated Radio+CD+MP3 supporting connectivity aux-in and USB and many more. All these features are offered depending upon the price offered on each trim.
Volkswagen Polo: In July this year German car maker Volkswagen brought the upgraded version of its highly acclaimed hatchback Polo in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi). Empowered with 1.2 litre MPI petrol engine the hatchback delivers an ARAI approved average of 16.5 kmpl.  The major attractions offered in hatchback are height adjustable driver seat, power steering with tilt and telescopic adjustment, speed sensor, central locking system, fog lamps, high mounted stop lamp, and many more.

Chevrolet Beat: Available with starting price tag of Rs. 3.80 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi), the diesel variant of this hatchback delivers an impressive average of 25.44 kmpl.
