Honda Brio all set to go to Brazil

Brazil is becoming the most happening car market and Honda expresses initial indications that it will be launching its small car Honda Brio soon. Not only this, the Brio hatchback will be produced locally in order to keep the price down and supply intact. The Brazilian car market has seen some of the best car launches recently including Volkswagen Gol and Hyundai HB20 and there are more upcoming cars. The Brio hatchback has done pretty well for the car maker even when the petrol prices were at all time high. Now that it is expected to be launched in Brazil, it is believed that the car will be gripping the small car market to its side as the market there is gasoline driven contrary to Indian market that has turned to diesel in the yesteryears.

The Brio for Brazil will be manufactured at the Sao Paulo plant and it will be the third destination where the car will be produced worldwide. It is said that so as to accommodate Brio production at Sao Paulo, the car maker will be importing some parts of Honda City sedan from the Argentina. Currently, the plant builds City sedan and Honda Fit (known as Honda Jazz in India). With the Brio production starting at this plant the capacity will be increased to 700 cars a day.

The Brio’s Brazilian venture is seen as one of the major steps in giving a boost to the brand in the entry level car segment. This small car by Honda has not been able to do wonders that it was expected to do and thus a Brazilian sprint is on the cards. Auto industry experts believe that the timing for Bro launch in India played the spoilsport. As soon as Brio sales climbed there was a petrol price rise and thus not only Brio but the petrol car sales slid drastically leading even Maruti India in a tizzy when Maruti Alto sales saw a decline.
