Honda Brio sedan name is Honda Amaze, it’s official

It is almost a month that we have been calling the Honda Brio based sedan as Brio sedan. Now as per the Indian branch of Honda, the car has a name – it is Honda Amaze. The soon to be unveiled compact sedan will be creating a lot of trouble for Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Indigo eCS besides the upcoming Mahindra Verito CS. The Amaze will be unveiled in Thailand on Nov 23 and post that it is possible that it will be launched soon in India as well. The segment in which the Amaze will be arriving is very hot right now and is dominated by Dzire sedan by Maruti. It is believed that diesel engine option will let Honda Amaze make its place in the segment. If priced well, it could be possible that it could dethrone Dzire in due course of time.

Meanwhile, the Brio hatchback is doing good and the recent addition of the Automatic version is getting high response. The Brio sedan is also believed to be Brio lookalike from the front and it will have a boot at the rear. It is believed that Honda has experimented just the same way what Maruti has experimented with Swift to form Swift Dzire. But there is a large difference in the treatment that Honda will be doing to Brio. The Amaze will have a longer wheelbase contrary to the almost the same treatment to the Swift.

The longer wheelbase on Amaze means that there will be more legroom for the rear passengers and despite being a compact sedan, it will have enough room for five people. The under four meter length of Amaze will also qualify it for the excise concessions and it will further help Honda in keeping the price of the car down. Thus, contracting the size will give it small shape but will also keep it attractive as well price wise.

In addition to take on Swift, Indigo and Etios sedan, Honda should bring out the Brio sedan with both petrol and diesel trims. Because the demand for diesel cars in India is more than petrol.
