Honda could revive Honda HR-V for India
The compact SUV segment in India is on the verge of an explosion. Two offerings are in – Renault Duster and Premier Rio 1.3 L multijet and two more are coming this Diwali – Ford Ecosport and Maruti XA Alpha. There are a lot of other SUVs that are lined up and eye the still untapped Indian compact SUV market. These include, Hyundai HA 800, Chevrolet Trax and Honda HR-V. The last one Honda HR-V is the latest addition to the wish list and it is believed that the Honda CR-V junior will be able to reform the market as it is expected to be offered in diesel engine options as well.
The HR-V will be a junior of the CR-V and will be a five seater SUV and will measure approx 4 meters in length. The new HR-V is hoped to be developed on the Honda Jazz platform and it will have a strong sense and sensibility to be a rival of Skoda Yeti and Dacia Duster internationally. Notably, since 2011, the international car market has witnessed a sharp increase in the demand for SUVs and there has been a rise in demand locally as well. Still nationally or internationally there are not enough SUV offerings available to meet the demand and thus more and more car companies are hoping to bring some or the other SUV to the market.
The HR-V has as is no plans of India launch officially but experts believe that it will be coming to India after the full revival of the car is over. And this time Honda is believed to revive this car in an altogether different manner and will develop it on the Jazz platform that in itself is more than a hatchback car. As per the reports, Honda expects to sell around 4 lakh units of this new SUV and India, China and other emerging car markets will be the volume pullers for this SUV.
