Honda to launch BR-V Compact SUV Next Year
It is reported that Japanese car maker Honda Motors will launch its compact SUV BR-V in Indian car market during the second half of next year. This is also endorsed by Mr. Katsushi Inoune, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Limited. The concept of this proposed compact SUV was revealed two months back in August and industry experts believe that company might showcase the same during upcoming Indian Auto Expo 2016. Developed hatchback Brio’s platform the BR-V is speculated to carry most of its design philosophy from MPV Mobilio.
It is believed that as the compact SUV is developed on Brio’s platform it might carry same mechanical features under the bonnet which will include integration of 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine in petrol and diesel variants. It might be offered with five speed manual gear transmission system and also a CVT transmission system in petrol variant.
Reports reveal that company might start the production of this compact SUV from the beginning of next year at its production unit located at Tapukara in Rajasthan along with premium sedan City and compact sedan Amaze. After launch the compact SUV will place tough competition against Duster from Renault, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Creta from Hyundai. It is speculated to get some notable features in form of enhanced ground clearance, 16 inch alloy wheels, roof rails and plastic body coverings across the body making it an impressive compact SUV.
