Indian Auto Expo: Mercedes Benz GLA Crossover Showcased
German luxurious car maker Mercedes Benz today unveiled the new GLA Crossover at the ongoing Indian Auto Expo 2014 and is expected to be launched in Indian car market by the end of this year or by the beginning of next year 2015. The newly unveiled GLA Crossover will be offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant will be equipped with 1.6 litre petrol engine, while the diesel variant will be equipped with 2.2 litre engine and will be coated with seven speed dual clutch automatic system. The engine offered in diesel variant is same as offered in Mercedes Benz A and B Class.
Physically the GLA Crossover is designed on same platform on which company’s A Class hatchback is being offered however this can be considered as an enhanced version of A Class. The GLA Crossover has length of 125mm, width of 24mm and 61mm tall, and carries 80 litres more boot space than compared to A Class hatchback. The crossover is expected to be a front wheel drive car. After launch it is speculated to compete with Audi Q3 and BMW X1.
