Jeep Compass Scores Five Star Ratings in EURO NCAP Test
Jeep Compass, the highly speculated SUV from US based car maker has succeeded in scoring five star safety ratings in the recently concluded Euro NCAP crash test results. The SUV is soon going to make its debut in Indian car market and is reported to receive more than 10,000 bookings. The unit of Jeep Compass tested during the NCAP test had left hand steering wheel and scored 90 percent score for adult occupancy and 83 percent for child occupancy. Along with the 4x4 trim of the SUV scored 64 percent score for pedestrian safety. The prototype of SUV tested will however be sold in global market and not in India.
The model tested during the NCAP is quite different from the India bound version in terms of various other features including placement of eight airbags whereas the Indian version is reported to receive six airbags, which would be offered in its top end variant. However, physically both the models will carry same dimensions and appearance, followed by ISOFIX points for the children at rear seats.
During the Euro NCAP test it was noticed that the passenger compartment of the SUV did not damaged and remained stable offering complete protection to front seat passengers. It was also noticed that there was no damage to the rear seat passengers during the crash. The side profile also offered complete protection to the complex parts of body, however the side pole exhibited the marks of rib compression. The left hand drive Jeep Compass is embellished with autonomous braking system as standard feature that is helpful in minimizing the tyre injuries while driving at low speed.
