Mahindra 1,000cc small car to be launched in India
Mahindra & Mahindra is fast earning a reputation of the most multi-talented and versatile car manufacturer in India. It is one of the key service vehicle producers. It is scheduling to introduce a 1,000 cc small car in the Indian market. A location has been selected in Tamil Nadu to stall a manufacturing plant at an outlay of Rs.800 crore.
The new car is priced at Rs. 3 lakhs and it would be facing a tough competition from the already well settled cars like Maruti Wagon R & Maruti A-Star, Hyundai Santro Xing and Chevrolet Spark.
Previously, it has been proposed by the company that 2 small cars would be introduced in India, Verito Sedan’s smaller version and a brand new car. A trial version has already been shared by the company with its 4 major vendors.
The code name of this small car project is BRL. This would be fully fuel efficient and is anticipated to strike on the Indian roads by 2013-2014.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Toyota Etios Liva, Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Force One, Maruti Cervo and Honda Brio.
