Mahindra all set to give a tough fight to Tata in Sri Lanka
Mahindra and Tata Motors have a new battleground and this time it is Sri Lanka. Already Mahindra has driven past once-the third largest car maker Tata in India by launching in some of the best cars including Mahindra XUV 500, Mahindra Verito. In the near future as well, the car maker could also beat Tata cars as it will be coming up with five new cars this Diwali while Tata has plans to launch one or two cars viz. Tata Manza CS and Tata Safari Storme besides Tata Nano diesel. However, the Nano Diesel launch is dicey, if that become a reality believe it or not, Tata could qualify for the position of the second largest car maker in the country.
Currently, Maruti India is at the first pedestal followed by Hyundai. The third pedestal is sometimes shared by Tata and Mahindra cars but recently Mahindra has surpassed Tata in terms of sales. This has been possible primarily due to the 37 percent increase in Mahindra car exports this year. Besides this the launch of Mahindra XUV 500 and new Mahindra Xylo has also given a fresh start to the sales. In addition to it, the recent launch of Mahindra Verito has been most sensational specially when the supply of its arch rival Maruti Swift Dzire has stopped due to the violence and resultant closedown of the Maruti’s Manesar plant.

Where Mahindra has been very active with respect to car launches or boosting exports, Tata has been quite meek in its approach. Mahindra said that it will launch five new cars this year; Tata has put up only the Tata Safari Storme on the launch pad. Meanwhile, where Mahindra has set itself quite comfortably in Sri Lanka, it is preparing itself to give a tough fight to Tata Motors.
