Mahindra and Mahindra to focus on production of petrol based compact SUVs
Domestic car manufacturing Mahindra & Mahindra is working on exploring the its share in compact SUVs and develop petrol based compact SUVs to compete against existing compact SUVs like EcoSport from Ford and Duster from Renualt. According to sources of company in coming fifteen months company will be revamping its entire product portfolio which will involve facelift of its existing products followed by some new products including new compact SUV.
The major attractions by domestic car maker in coming months would be a new compact SUV codenamed S101, facelift of Quanto and generation next Bolero, all these products would be launched under the category of sub 4 meter category. It is also reported that the car maker is working on developing a new petrol engine that would be empowered in these new upcoming compact SUVs. Company believes that introduction of this new petrol engine will further assist company in enhancing its sales. The first vehicle from domestic car maker which would make its debut would S101 which would be offered in both petrol and diesel disguises and would compete against Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. It would be based on Monocoque platform.
The launch of S101 compact SUV would be followed by facelift Quanto codenamed as U215. The facelift Quanto will go various contemporary cosmetic changes on both exteriors and interiors which are expected to help Quanto in enjoying the expected success which it could not enjoy at the time of its launch. Moving ahead the car maker will also bring the facelift version of its highest selling SUV Bolero which would be developed keeping in concern the requirement of generation next in concern. Moving ahead besides these launches company is first going to launch the facelift version of Scorpio on September 25, 2014 and also the hybrid version of XUV 500.
