Recently, the Bolero SUV managed to reach the sales of over 1 lakh units in the year 2011-2012. This is a grand success for the car that has now taken various styles catering to the utility and people mover needs. No doubt, after the Mahindra Jeep, Bolero became the heartthrob of the rural India. As per the information, 100686 unit sales is a record in the history of Mahindra and Mahindra.

So what has made this SUV rule India which resides in villages? It is in fact the room inside, protection from all weather contrary to soft top in erstwhile Jeep and Mahindra Thar which is the latest invent of it. However, Mahindra Thar AC is also available these days. Another factor that must have helped the Mahindra SUV become an iconic car for Mahindra is the reliability of the engine and the robust chassis that can withstand even the strongest of the road bumps, off roading with ease.

Another SUV that is perhaps more refined than Bolero is the Scorpio. Presence of highly performing m2Di and mHawk engine and a price starting at Rs 7.49 lakh, the Scorpio SUV has recently almost completed a decade of its presence in India. The Mahindra SUV also has micro hybrid technology in place that saves fuels and enables the car to return higher mileage even in the city. The Scorpio SUV also has class leading features that match with the likes of Tata Safari and a lot of other high priced SUVs. It also has an automatic transmission model available. Now that the XUV 500 is in, the Scorpio is expected to lose some sheen. However, it is a record that the SUV Scorpio has never been wanting for sales in its entire decade long career.
