En route the finalization of distribution rights, Twin Dragons Automotive raised a concern that it is the sole distributor of Ssangyong cars but the issue was resolved when Ssangyong clarified the stand and said that post the acquisition, it will be Mahindra SA that will be the sole distributor. Notably, after the acquisition, Mahindra has been marketing the Ssangyong products in Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe as well. Prior to the clarification of the stand, Twin Dragons Automotive had been selling Ssangyong cars in South Africa and now that Mahindra has taken over, it will cease its operations for Ssangyong.
Back in India, the two SUVs Korando and Rexton are highly waited and Mahindra is aggressively preparing ground for the SUVs. Besides a pricing factor, Mahindra will also be deciding whether to market it under its channel or keep it as a fresh brand for India. The details are awaited as a word from Mahindra is awaited. However, Mahindra has already clarified that it will be launching the two SUV from Ssangyong stable this Diwali, along with Mahindra Xylo Mini, Mahindra Verito CS, Mahindra Reva NXR electric car and one other car that could be the Verito based hatchback in India.
