The Mahindra Korando Sports and Mahindra Korando C have registered some encouraging sales figures in the first quarter this year in domestic and exports market, since its launch in January 2012. The Korando Sports SUV made sales of 9168 vehicles, which is an up by 50.7%. On the other hand, Korando C scaled a high of 29.4% with sales of 9257 vehicles in the first three months of 2012. Last year, in the same period it read sales of 6085vehicles and 7155 vehicles for Korando Sports and Korando C respectively.

Overall Ssangyong Motors; which is now a part of home-grown auto giant Mahindra, recorded sales of 26441 vehicles including CKD, with profits of KRW 644 billion along with operational loss of KRW 32.6 billion. In the first quarter, it scaled a sales growth of 6.9% and 3.8% increase in profits besides a good 22% down in operating losses against the initial quarter of 2011. This positive augmentation was witnessed at the time of slow demand due to economic downfall in the overseas and domestic sector.

With sales boost in export markets like Africa, Russia, Asia-Pacific and the Middle-East markets Ssangyong scaled an up of 13% along with 3% dip in national auto sector.

According to CEO of Ssangyong Motors, Mr. Lee Yoo-il, company’s decrease in operating loss by decent margin is very vital alongside favorable response in foreign market in first quarter has played a crucial role up till now. With the introduction of new and face lifted models, the firm will carry on advancing its sales and profit numbers.
