Sharing a platform has become a trend in the Indian car bazaar these days. The major highpoint of sharing a platform is that it chops down the manufacturing time and the manufacturing costs big time. Therefore, keeping these major points in mind, the Indian car maker, Mahindra and Mahindra is mulling to make small cars on its Logan Platform. Logan was manufactured with Renault collaboration. Currently, Logan is being sold as Mahindra Verito in the country. Maruti Suzuki India began doing this with the Swift Platform as the platform is shared with the Swift hatchback, Swift Dzire compact sedan and new Ertiga MPV.

If Mahindra and Mahindra introduce small cars in the market on Logan platform, it will certainly make its way into the most flourishing segment of the Indian car market today. There are so many potential possibilities, which can be resulted from Logan platform and a compact car is one of the best ones.  

However, the plan of introducing small cars on Logan Platform is quite away for the time being as the firm is apparently working on a sub-four meter Verito. So, the priority at this point of time is the sub-four meter Verito, if consumers give a positive response to this, small car from Mahindra and Mahindra could soon be expected in the country.

Another thing that has to be pondered upon is about Renault. Logan was made together by M&M and Renault during their partnership. Now using the same platform to make other small cars under Mahindra is a bit dubious as Renault still supplies driveline and engine for Logan (Verito). We could expect that this shouldn’t create any problems for the firm. Hopefully, Mahindra and Mahindra soon get this small car plan into execution and step foot into the small car segment of the Indian car bazaar.
