Mahindra Quanto all set to hit South African market

The Mahindra Quanto that has created a room for its own in India is all set for a South African Sprint. Though the SUV fails to beat out Renault Duster from the segment but it is a worth buy for those who wish to have a big family car at a less price. Its other rival Premier Rio that has also launched its 1.3 L diesel BS4 avatar is seldom posing any resistance to these two segment leaders. The reason why Mahindra could have decided a South African sprint for Quanto is that there is a huge demand for Mahindra cars there and people have seen and tested these to be one of the sturdiest and the most affordable cars.

As per the sources, the Quanto launch in SA will be in the first quarter of the year and the company expects a huge response for this under four meter compact SUV in the new land as well. Already the car has made quite a decent presence in India with over 12k bookings in the initial days of its launch. The scenario is that the Quanto still has a waiting of over a month in India. Now that Mahindra has expanded the capacity of its production, it is believed that the delivery in India will quicken and export to other countries will commence rapidly.

The South African model of the Quanto could be powered by 2.2 L diesel engine which is a four cylinder make up contrary to the three cylinder engine that powers the India spec model. This will give this SUV an edge over other international SUVs as people are really skeptic about the power and performance of the three cylinder engine. It is said that this is the sole reason why Quanto did not have that much expected bookings in the initial days as people wanted to see first how the engine performs and what are the reviews about Quanto.
