Mahindra Quanto: The production version of Mini Xylo
‘Mahindra Quanto’. Yes, that’s the formal name for desperately awaited compact MPV from eminent SUV-maker Mahindra & Mahindra. Up till now the sources used an unofficial name called Mahindra Mini Xylo for this large hatch cum mini-MPV, but now it’s all out. The scoop images of production version Mahindra Quanto by Team-Bhp undoubtedly suggest that it just falls under 4-meters in length to grab lower excise benefits. With the price label being speculated around INR 5-6 Lakh it will surely provide Maruti Ertiga and Premier Rio a run for their money. The 7-seater Mahindra Quanto launch will happen by Diwali this year with 1.5L diesel motor under hood.
Mahindra continues its favoritism with letter ‘O’ ending, by naming this vehicle as ‘Quanto’. Till now this ‘O’ ending series consists of Bolero, Scorpio, Xylo, Genio, and of late XUV 500. The images speak that it’s truly compressed version of Mahindra Xylo MPV, and with the spare wheel mounted at the tail it screams the sportiness of a compact SUV similar to that of Premier Rio.
The front of Mahindra Quanto resembles upgraded Xylo with stylish 6-spoke alloys at sides, while rear has high mounted tail lamps along with multi-reflectors at bumper. There is a long list of interior features that includes airbags, steering-mounted controls, flexible driver's seat, reverse park-assist, Bluetooth connectivity and center armrest for driver & co-driver. Apart from the mentioned aspects there are chances of leather seats & voice commands making way in the select top end models. Under the bonnet will be a 1.5L 3-cylinder powertrain with 5-speed manual transmission, which is expected to be a downsized version of potent 2.2L mHawk engine that will give out nearly 100PS of maximum power output.
