Mahindra S101 and Quanto Spied testing together
Mahindra’s proposed SUV codenamed S101 has been spied testing on several occasions at Indian roads. But this time it is for the first time that the SUV has been spied testing with its elder sibling Quanto. As reported earlier the upcoming SUV S101 is being developed in joint collaboration of Mahindra and its Korean alliance SsangYoung and has been developed on Monocoque platform. According to reports received from spies the SUV S101 is smaller in size as compared to Quanto and is speculated to carry most of its design language from its other sibling XUV 500.
The SUV S101 would be offered in both petrol and diesel variants with petrol variant equipped with 1.2 litre petrol engine being developed jointly by both companies. As far as diesel variant is considered it will embellish three cylinder 1.5 litre diesel engine which at present is offered in Quanto. Both the engines are expected to be coated with five speed manual transmission system and could be also offered with automatic transmission system in coming future.
The SUV is expected to be launched by end of next year or in the beginning of 2016 and will compete against Ford EcoSport and forthcoming SUV Taigun from Volkswagen. Apart from this another product to be offered by domestic car maker would facelift version of Quanto or might be Bolero.
