Mahindra S101 caught again testing on Chennai roads
It seems that home grown car maker company Mahindra and Mahindra do wants to leave any drawback in its upcoming compact SUV S101. Every time whenever the compact SUV is witnessed being tested on roads it reveals some new features adorned on it. This time again the spies have succeeded in witnessing the compact SUV going for test drive and witnessed new improvements. The erstwhile version of SUV missed the body panels, but this time it sported body panels, headlamps and bumpers. Apart from this the front fascia has been developed similar to XUV 500 and sports daytime running LED lights. The interiors will carry gearbox integrated on dashboard, thus offering the front passengers a spacious cabin.
The compact SUV will be equipped with 1.5 litre three cylinder diesel engine generating the power of 100 bhp and torque of 240Nm. Apart from this the compact SUV will also be offered in petrol variant which would be developed in alliance with Ssangyong. It is also speculated that car maker might offer automated manual transmission system to this compact SUV. As the compact SUV is being developed in joint collaboration of M&M and Ssangyong it is developed Ssangyoung’s XLV concept referring to eXciting Lifestyle Vehicle. The sub four meter compact SUV would be launched between its siblings Scorpio and Quanto.
In international market the SUV would be sold under the brand name of Ssangyog, whereas in Indian car market it would be sold by name of Mahindra. The SUV is expected to be launched between the middle of 2015 and therefore the car maker has huge time to update it according to current market scenario. After launch it is expected to compete against Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, both highly acclaimed company SUVs in Indian car market.
