Mahindra S101 SUV launch in 26-30 months; price below Rs 4 Lakhs
These days most of the car buyers in India are choosing hatchback or small cars not because they love them but there seem no option available; thanks to inflation. No doubt hatchback or small vehicle is need of the hour as they are easy on maintenance, low priced and ensure good fuel economy. Now to break this perception among the consumer Mahindra and Mahindra has announced a mini Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) codenamed as of now with Mahindra S101. The SUV will be less than four meter in length and will be on sale with an irresistible price bracket of around INR 3 Lakhs- 4 Lakhs.
The crossover Mahindra S101 is developed in association with SsangYong Motor Company; the South Korean carmaker acquired by Mahindra in the start of this year. The compact or mini SUV Mahindra S101 will be offered in petrol as well as diesel version. A promising 1.0L or 1.2L engine will power the petrol edition whereas a 1.5L engine will be diesel powered. As per the insiders, the esteemed development of Mahindra S101had commenced in 2010 at Chakan plant based in Pune and is expected to rollout within two to two and half year.
After its launch in India it will compete with than launched premium vehicle such as Nissan Juke, and currently on road Skoda Yeti. But the price factor will be in consideration as Nissan Juke and Skoda Yeti fall in INR 12 Lakhs- 15 Lakhs bracket whereas Mahindra S101 will be much cheaper.
A small car or hatchback which is trending nowadays among the car enthusiasts is not their foremost pick, but a forced preference. May be the hatch act decently from home to office and vice versa, but what about if an adventure trip is planned… then one needs to purchase a brawny Sports Utility Vehicle to extract maximum out of the tour. At that particular moment this two-in-one will come into picture.
