Mahindra Scorpio LX 4X4 launched, priced at Rs 9.17 Lakhs
The Indian utility major Mahindra and Mahindra has soft launched a new variant of its successful Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Scorpio in the form of Scorpio LX SUV 4X4. The brawny vehicle is priced at Rs 9.17 Lakhs, ex showroom Delhi. The new vehicle will miss many of the elements, which the top end model Scorpio SLX 4X4 comprised of.
In the appearance part, the SUV looks identical to the earlier model apart from the moniker of 4X4 at the tail gate of the vehicle. Other visible changes that can be seen are the freewheeling hubs on the wheels and on the central console a shift on the fly four wheel drive option that is placed besides the gear knob.
Under the bonnet of Scorpio LX 4X4 sits the same 2.2L mHawk CRDE turbo charged diesel power-train that is capable to churn out a maximum power of 120 bhp along with 290 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gear box.

The ground clearance that was of around 180mm in the predecessor remains the same in this version, but the all wheel drive system adds upon 100 kilograms to the overall vehicle weight.
The important elements of the off roader are tilt-able steering wheel, five zone cushion suspension, digital immobilizer, tube-less tyres, advanced power steering and power windows, illuminated spoiler along with mobile charging point and central locking. The SUV lacks some basic safety feature like Anti Brake System (ABS) and air bags.
Earlier Mahindra has launched its global SUV XUV500, which had gathered an overwhelming response from the off-roader fanatics.
