Mahindra to launch 5 cars, SUV, Mini SUV, Mini Van, EV & a compact Sedan
SUV maker Mahindra India has planned a glittering year ahead starred by the launch of five cars. Sensing that the heaviest car buying in India happens during the festive month of Diwali, Mahindra has scheduled to launch the new cars at that time. Among the launches are a mini avatar of Mahindra Xylo Mini, the under four meter version of Mahindra Verito sedan, new generation electric car Mahindra Reva NXR, Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton SUV and a mini van version of its passenger carrier Mahindra Maxximo. Out of these, the Mahindra Mini Xylo is the most awaited and is expected to be priced at Rs 5-6 lakh even under Mahindra Scorpio that starts at Rs 7 lakh.

However, there is a worrywart that is ailing the homegrown SUV maker. It is the proposed hike in the tax on diesel cars. If diesel cars are taxed, the diesel powered cars will see a price rise as well as decrease in demand and it will be Mahindra that will be suffering the most as 90 percent of its revenue comes from the sale of diesel cars. With offering mostly SUVs and MUVs and a sedan, Mahindra has a strong grip over market and has recently witnessed considerable growth after a decline in the past few months. The lately launched Mahindra XUV 500 bagged 25,000 + booking applications as well as the new Mahindra Xylo both created an atmosphere in favor of the Mahindra and consequently the sales surged.

The proposed during Diwali five launches will be further paving a solid road for the car maker in India. Notably, in order to make it truly for India, Mahindra is setting up an assembly line for the Rexton SUV. After an initial assessment of demand, the Rexton SUV will be assembled at the Chakan plant. Whereas as far as the Verito CS is concerned, it will be competing with the newly launched Maruti Swift DZire CS and Tata Indigo CS. While the new Mini Xylo will be coming as a thunder in the under four meter SUV market or possibly as a big hatch. The Reva NXR on the other hand will be reviving the electric cars segment.
