Mahindra seems to be going the Maruti way but a little differently. Just as Maruti placed the Maruti Swift Dzire which is an under four meter car and Maruti Swift Dzire Tour which has a larger boot space side by side Mahindra will also be selling Mahindra Verito and Mahindra Verito CS side by side. Though there is considerable price difference between the Swift Dzire and Swift Dzire Tour, the latter two are expected to have a price divide of only Rs 40k. Experts in this field believe that this could lead to a dilemma among the customers as the price difference is too narrow. Unlike the Swift Dzire Tour, Mahindra will not be dedicating the Verito CS to Taxi segment.

Being under four meter in length just similar to Swift Dzire, the Verito CS will be the lowest priced sedan in India. Besides the Swift Dzire, Tata Indigo eCS will be its rivals while there will be more under four meter sedan coming soon. The under four meter segment that began with the Indigo eCS is all set to undergo transformation with the entry of Verito CS as Mahindra is expected to price it pretty attractive making it a worth buy than hatchback. Notably, the introduction of Swift Dzire CS has already shifted the scale and has increased the share of sedans in the overall sales. However, the recent lockout at Manesar could dampen its sales and impact further contribution to the segment.

Apart from the Verito CS, there is one more sedan that could make a surprise entry in this segment and that is Tata Manza CS. With these offerings in place car buyers will have a lot of options and little boot cars have show that being tagged as sedans these can very well eat the share of the full seized over priced sedans in the country which include a lot of offerings starting from Tata Indigo to Renault Fluence and others.
