Mahindra XUV 500 set to launch on September 28th
Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch its much anticipated XUV 500 on September 28. This SUV is Mahindra's first car to be based on a global platform. Though it is a full in-house production by Mahindra that has been researched and developed at Mahindra and Mahindra's high tech facility at Chennai.
The XUV 500 will be Mahindra's priciest car, falling in the range of Rs. 12-15 Lacs, to hit the Indian market. It will be priced just slightly above the top end model of its other SUV Scorpio. It is also expected to take away Scorpio status of being Mahindra flagship model. Mahindra XUV 500 is a new age SUV that will appeal to the young generation, as it is stylish and sporty, and is based on advanced technology.

Mahindra XUV 500 will be launched in India and South Africa on the same day. Experts believe that XUV 500 will help Mahindra come out as a global brand. Mahindra XUV 500 is powered by the same 2.2L mHawk Diesel engine that powers Scorpio. Though, through some advanced technology and improvements made, XUV 500 will be better in performance and fuel efficiency. The 2.2L engine will produce maximum power of 140bhp and torque of 326nm.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s Automotive and Farm Equipment Sector President, Pawan Goenka said that the company is ready to create a new benchmark with XUV 500 launch. According to him the XUV500 has been extensively tested and it is a global car with some amazing technology and performance.
Mahindra, at present, holds 60.5 percent share of the SUV market in India. It is currently offering three SUV's and MUVs in the India market. These include- Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Xylo.
