Mahindra XUV 500 W4 variant launching soon
A cheaper variant of Mahindra XUV 500, called the 'W4' will soon be launched in India. Mahindra & Mahindra has recently seen the decline in sales figures for this SUV and in an attempt to boost sales figures of the vehicle, the company is going to launch this lower variant by near future. At present, Renault Duster is giving rigid competition to the XUV 500 in domestic market. For the months of March and April this year, XUV 500 sales stood at 5440 units while in the same period Duster sales stood at 11675 units.
The new cheaper Mahindra XUV 500 W4 variant could gain the sales figures of the company. It is reported be offered under Rs 10 lakh or as younger sibling of W6 variant which is available at Rs 12.9 lakh (Ex-showroom). The new W4 variant could come without many more features like 6-inch multimedia system, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, automatic temperature control with AC. With launch of this lower variant the Indian auto giant seeks to eat the market share of Duster and upcoming Ford Ecosport.
However, M&M has also plans to threat the luxury SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva, Ford Endeavour and Maruti Grand Vitara with launch of a more premium variant than the current W8 which is reported to come out with sunroof and many more high-end safety features. At present, the SUV is being offered in three variants like W6, W8 and W8 4x4 which are being sold between Rs 12.9 lakh to Rs 14.68 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi).
