Mahindra Xylo 4x4 not launched

Finally, the new Mahindra Xylo MPV has arrived. The wait is finally over and the new Xylo MPV has been officially launched. However, the 4x4 version is yet to come out. The testing rounds have been going on since few months, but the company has not yet declared the official launch date of the Mahindra Xylo 4x4. The main reason for not launching it could be the low price strategy of the auto company.

The company, however, in a statement, has said that the 4x4 version will be just for export purpose. According to the company, Xylo is mainly for the urban roads and highways of India, where there is no need for a 4x4 vehicle. And the company offers Mahindra Scorpio and Mahindra Bolero, which can be used for off-roading purposes.

So, putting an end to all the hopes of people waiting for Xylo’s 4x4 version, the company has made clear that the above said version will never the dawn in Indian market. Mahindra has also put an end to speculations whether Mahindra Xylo could get an automatic gearbox in the near future. The company officials said that the company has no plans of installing an automatic gearbox in Xylo MPV.

Currently, Xylo is the second largest selling MPV of India, with sales of 90,000 units in the last year. Toyota Innova is the largest selling MPV.

The company is also planning to export Xylo to South African market, real soon. For other foreign market, Mahindra is developing a left hand drive variant of Mahindra Xylo, and it will start exporting it to the foreign markets within the time span of next few months.
