Mahindra Xylo Mini to sport twin turbo diesel engine
The Mahindra Xylo Mini that is in the making has an update and it seems to be a prominent one that is expected to step up the anticipation. Scheduled for a near Diwali launch the Xylo Mini will have a twin turbo three pot diesel engine. This engine will be the smallest, cheapest and the most fuel efficient. Lesser the pots, lesser the engine consumes. But this does not mean that it is less on power as the Xylo engine will have a power output of 100 bhp. This will be the first car to have a small sized engine in it and it will be India’s first car. It could be possible that other car maker may follow suit and put in similar configuration engine in their cars to achieve high end fuel efficient and power as well.

The Mahindra Mini Xylo now is believed to be more like a hatchback than a real Mini MPV like the Xylo. The spy pics as well as insiders report suggest that the car will be positioned to be hatchback but there is a strong possibility that it will be positioned to play a spoil sport for the Maruti Ertiga that is gaining grip over the MPV segment. Meanwhile, the report that the twin turbo diesel engine will be powering the Xylo Mini is good from two perspectives. First is the by introducing a new engine that is of three pots, Mahindra will be able to price the Xylo Mini well and secondly if the price is down, consider it as an instant hit in the market that must have been eagerly waiting for this Mahindra car.
The all aluminum engine will be BS V compliant and a toned down cheaper version could also be made available which will be BS IV compliant. This means that right from the launch day, the Mahindra Mini Xylo has entire India as its market. Weighing around 185 kg the new twin turbo engine will be mated to a five speed manual gearbox in order to ascertain full power delivery to the wheels. Also, the engine has 100 bhp power that makes it more powerful than the Renault Duster or the recently launched Premier Rio 1.3 L multijet. Hoped to be a seven seater car, the Xylo Mini price is expected to set in tremor in the hatchback as well as MPV market in India.
