Maruti India exports have reached the one million mark and the one millionth car was exported to Denmark. The milestone car happened to be a Maruti A Star clad in sizzling red color and was pushed on board the ship that headed to various international destinations. The consignment consisted of 2,200 Maruti cars. The ship will be taking the Maruti cars to Switzerland, Malta, Sweden in Europe and Algeria, Egypt and Morocco. Notably, Maruti is currently exporting Maruti A Star, Maruti Swift and others. Among the 125 nations to which Maruti cars are exported, Algeria alone has become a nation that imported 1 lakh Maruti cars.

Enthused with the latest milestone achievement by the Indo-Japanese car maker, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said in a statement that the milestone is a significant success for the car maker. Significantly, Maruti has been able to add volumes to its exports following start of exports to countries other than Europe. Meanwhile, India’s largest car maker has also reported its successful sales in the domestic market as well with the significant contribution of Maruti Ertiga MPV launched on April 12.

A consignment of 2200 cars was flagged of from the Mundra port for various destinations on Monday. These cars will be delivered in non-European nations such as Switzerland, Malta, Sweden in Europe and Algeria, Egypt and Morocco. Meanwhile, Maruti also continues its exports to Europe which is still the major export destination of the car maker. However, due to the slump in Europe, the exports fell considerably and thus Maruti had to explore new non-European markets that ultimately proved fruitful for the car maker. Notably, Maruti sells A Star as 'Suzuki Alto' and 'Suzuki Celerio' in various markets. Now, Maruti plans to extend its presence in ASEAN region.
