India’s biggest car launch is about to happen on Thursday. And it is from Maruti stable. The car maker’s first true to India MPV- Maruti Ertiga. As India has been governed by small cars and MPVs or rather say India has been using SUVs as MUVs for quite some time. Now that India is soon to have its true MPV by Maruti, it is expected that the Japanese Toyota Innova, American Chevrolet Tavera and homegrown Mahindra Xylo have to rethink and rehash their product prices as Ertiga price is expected to make is an entry-level MPV in India. Ertiga price in India is expected to be Rs 7 lakh to Rs 9 lakh.

Designed at the research and development arm of Maruti Suzuki in Japan, Ertiga has been made keeping every bit in Indian perspective. From suspension to seating comfort, from highly fuel efficient engine to looks and size, everything tells that it is made for India. Similar research Maruti had put in for its flagship car Maruti 800, then for Maruti Alto hatchback and then for Maruti Wagon R and recently for Maruti Ritz and these models were a great hit in India.

Ertiga’s design proportions as well as its seven seating capacity besides highly fuel efficient engine options all hope to make it all the more pleasing to Indians. Maruti has been promoting it as ‘LUV is in the air’ and it should be light/life utility vehicle that Indians will fall in love with. Availability in diesel option with the Fiat sourced 1.3 L multijet engine will further add to the popularity of the car as diesel cars are in great demand these days in every segment. The petrol car with 1.4 K series motor will also attract buyers who want an extra push and power in the Ertiga.
