The Maruti car that has almost recreated history for the largest car manufacturer in India is heading for a big challenge in China. Yes, we are talking about the Maruti Ertiga MPV. Stylish looks, decently big size, comfortable seating for seven people and high mileage are some of the plus for Ertiga. Above all, the Ertiga price factor has really helped it gain volumes in the initial phase. However, the present supply shortage and increasing demand for the car resulting in the bulging waiting period could dampen its craze and a shift towards the already hit players such as Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo. Maruti Ertiga China launch is expected to be early next year.

As per the information, Maruti has filed patent for the Ertiga in China before it could be launched there. Already, sold in many countries, the Ertiga MPV has big plans round the globe. The Indian market has proved to be the most successful one and Maruti is eyeing a bigger chunk in China. In Indonesia that is primarily MPV governed had accepted Ertiga well but there as well the supply shortage seems to have marred its prospects. Now that Ertiga is heading to China, it is believed to have similar effect on the Chinese market as well.

It is believed that the Ertiga petrol variants will be a hit in China as the country is governed by petrol cars. It is also expected that 1.4 L K series engine that outputs 93 bhp and a max torque of 130 Nm will be under the hood of the car. Meanwhile, the rising waiting period which is around six months for the diesel model is bringing sleepless nights to the car maker in India. However, Maruti has decided to step up production of Maruti Ertiga further as the demand has already exceeded the expected production level.

The popularity of the Ertiga can be gauged with the unprecedented booking it has received and the number has reportedly crossed 45 k in India. So which other car in India will match the sales performance of this Maruti car? Will it be Renault Duster that is coming on July 4 or it will be the Ford Ecosport that will be launched this Diwali or will it be Maruti’s true SUV Maruti XA Alpha that is still upcoming with no concrete launch plans. Only time will tell but as per the recent buzz, it will be Duster SUV that will be swaying the SUV segment to its side just as Ertiga has pulled volume in the MPV segment.
