Maruti registers 6.5 percent growth in Feb, thanks to Maruti Swift Dzire and Swift

Maruti Swift hatchback, and Swift Dzire CS surely have the DNA to bring wonders and these Maruti cars have proved it right this month. With rising sales of Swift hatchback and recently launched Dzire CS sedan, Maruti sales registered an increase of 6.5 percent compared to the sales in the same month last year. In all, Maruti sold 1.18 lakh units in February with a significant decline in sales of Maruti Alto and Maruti A Star premium hatchback. Notably, the year ahead for Maruti is hectic and promising sales is expected due to the upcoming Maruti XA Alpha and the Maruti Ertiga MPV.

Amidst decent domestic sales, Maruti exports have also risen by 12 percent in February. Maruti exported 11,296 units of cars. Following these reports, Maruti India NSE share in India rose by 2.2 percent at Rs 1282.05. Undoubtedly, Maruti Swift hatchback that has recently arrived in a new avatar with more streamline headlamps and a all new rear apart from new interior styling, is the sure crowd puller for Maruti. Though marred by the strike at Maruti plant last year, the Maruti Swift sales along with the newly launched Maruti Swift Dzire CS have picked up considerably.

Overall the compact cars including Maruti Swift, Maruti Ritz, and Maruti Estilo picked up in February and there was a 31.1 percent hike in demand compared to the same period last year. Swift Dzire sales surged to 59 percent to 15,068 units. On the other hand, Maruti 800, Maruti Wagon R and small cars Maruti Alto and Maruti A Star saw a decrease in demand and sales took a downward swing to 8.2 percent at 49,104 unit sales in Feb. Maruti sedan Maruti SX4 and Maruti Kizashi could not find even 50 percent of the buyers these cars did in the same period last year and only 2,033 units were sold. Maruti utility cars also registered a 47 percent increase in sales while Maruti Omni sales too slipped.
