Maruti Suzuki YRA caught, being tested on Indian roads
YRA hatchback, the upcoming premium hatchback from the makers of Swift, has been spied testing in the country and interestingly the latest spy image gives a clear look at what to expect when the production model makes it to the road in 2015. Maruti's YRA hatchback is being tested in India and Europe simultaneously and a global unveiling is expected next year.
From the latest image, it looks like Maruti YRA hatchback is beginning to take a shape reminiscent of the company's Swift offering with its headlamps and front-grille treatment. However, the YRA looks bigger and wider than Swift, giving the clue that the model is designed to compete with upcoming Honda Jazz in terms of the cabin space. The car adopts door-mounted mirrors, wide air-intake and honeycomb grille with vertical LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). And if this is true, the DRL of YRA could be the major USP of the upcoming Maruti hatchback.
The YRA hatchback is expected to reach Indian shores by the end of next year and in India, the car will rival Hyundai's Elite i20 and Honda Jazz, which is coming to the market next year.Expected to be positioned above Maruti Swift, the new YRA hatchback is likely to get upmarket and appealing interiors. As for the engines, although nothing is official yet, the model could get power from the 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre diesel motors
Maruti will also be launching its new crossover SX4 S-Cross in India next year. The car, which has been spied in the country numerous times, is expected to get power from 1.6-litre diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 118bhp with a peak torque of 32kgm and will rival Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano.
