Maruti Swift and Wagon R bag India Design Mark 2012
Maruti India has bagged the India Design Mark 2012 issued by India Design Council for Maruti Swift and Maruti Wagon R recently. The IDC deals in design awareness & design promotion and has acclaimed Wagon R and Swift as best designs in their class. Besides being designed well the IDC acclaimed these products to be trustworthy and reliable apart from being a value for money buy.
The manufacturing process is also considered in granting the title to products and it is seen that the products submitted for assessment are produced in a responsible manner. Notably, both these cars are some of the best selling cars by Maruti and the car brand banks on these for its overall volume sales.

The Wagon R and Swift are the only two cars that have been awarded this prestigious title this year. In addition to the above two car products, there are products from all walks of life including, submersible pumps, designer furniture, water purifier, Time Attendance and Access Control Product and other in all 31 products. Inclusion of the two hatchback by Maruti is believed to add much value to these cars as this is a prestigious title and being acclaimed as best product designs will help these two cars have an edge over other payers in their respective price segments. For Wagon R it will be an upper hand as against Hyundai Santro whereas for Swift it will be a win win situation over a large number of competitors including Skoda Fabia, Fiat Punto, Ford Figo and similar other cars.

IDC is an independent body setup by the Government of India under the National Design Policy. It is currently chaired by Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra. It has 22 members. The council chooses products designs and awards them India Design Mark by considering their worth on the basis of various factors laid down under the National Design Policy and as per the objectives of the Council.
