Off road abilities, maximum safety and comfort were the pillars on which the Mercedes Benz G Class was developed in 1970’s. However, there were limited takers of such big boxy cars, still it did well. If demand then and now were to be juxtaposed one finds that there is a recent spur in the preference for SUVs in the world and India and the sales figures of Mercedes Benz G Class proves it right. Registering an overall 30 percent growth, Mercedes Benz has recently sold the 2,000,000th Mercedes Benz G Glass. The Mercedes Benz G Class price in India starts at Rs 1.18 crore.

If numbers were to be quoted Mercedes Benz SUV sales increased by over 24 percent in the last one year. Speaking on the gracious occasion for Mercedes Benz, Dr Joachim Schmidt, Sales and Marketing, Executive VP, Mercedes Benz reportedly said that the entire Mercedes Benz SUV family including Mercedes Benz GLK Class, Mercedes Benz GL Class, Mercedes Benz R Class, Mercedes Benz M Class and Mercedes Benz G Class is getting popular among car buyers in US and China besides India. In India, Mercedes Benz offers Mercedes Benz G Class is a 5461cc, 507bhp SUV with six airbags, ABS, EBD and traction control. It is a machine that gives on road feel even if the car is running off the road.

So what is it that pulls people towards SUV? Is it the mammoth power in the SUVs or is it just the big and mighty looks.
